Do you feel like your happiness and wellbeing have become so dependent on the outcomes of your next health initiative? If so, you may be stuck in the binge-diet cycle as a distraction from something deeper, or, as a result of societal pressures. You’ve been conditioned to believe you can resolve your problems with portion sizes and the right workout program. The hard truth is that biology is in control, not your willpower, motivation or determination

Together we shift the focus from a rigid attempt to control weight to the belief systems that perpetuates these behaviors.

Through the direct application of Health at Every Size (HAES™*) principles, emphasis is placed on addressing past experiences and current thought patterns to better fit your body. Instead of trying to change your body to fit your thoughts.

So what is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a widely researched and effective method of treating individuals suffering from symptoms of PTSD and other distressing conditions. When distress from a disturbing event remains in our brain and body; images, thoughts, emotions, smells, and other triggers can create an overwhelming feeling of being back in the original distressing moment and cause us to act accordingly. Through EMDR, those original memories are processed and healing can occur. While the memory still remains, the physical, embodied stress response has subsided and you are able to view your experiences more objectively.

EMDR, along with cognitive and other behavioral techniques are interventions that may be used to support you in reaching your treatment goals. You are encouraged to ask questions and share information that will be helpful in determining if EMDR may be an effective treatment modality for you.
